Early Life and Education

A Native New Yorker with a Passion for Law and Community

Cormac McEnery was born in City Island, NY and raised in the vibrant borough of Brooklyn, where he developed a deep appreciation for the diverse tapestry of New York City. His formative years were spent on City Island in the Bronx, instilling in him a strong sense of community and connection to the local area. After graduating from St. Michael’s College with a BA in 1972, Cormac returned to his beloved New York to embark on his legal journey.

Cormac’s Legal Career from Clerk to Advocate
Upon completing his education, Cormac began his legal career by clerking at Casey, Lane & Mittendorf. This experience laid the foundation for his future endeavors in the legal field. In 1978, he successfully passed the New York State Bar Examination, marking the beginning of his illustrious career as an attorney.

In 1979, Cormac returned to City Island to establish his own law practice. For 45 years, he has dedicated himself to serving the legal needs of individuals and families on probate, real estate, trusts, wills, elder law, estate planning, estate litigation, and other areas of law throughout the greater New York City area.
A Life Beyond Law: Sailing and Family
Away from the courtroom, Cormac finds solace and joy on the waters of the Long Island Sound. During the warmer months, he delights in taking his close friends and family sailing, embracing the serenity and beauty of the sea.
